Description

The MU55CE is one of the first in a line of all-solid wood ukuleles from Alvarez. They're produced using bamboo – a wood that’s not endangered due to its common nature and exceptionally fast-growing process. This makes the model a truly sustainable option for the discerning modern-day musician.

Benefitting the Ecosystem

The aforementioned wood selection doesn’t just benefit the environment either; bamboo is known for being a tone wood with excellent sounding properties. Its affordable too, resulting in a uke which delivers great tones at an extremely reasonable price point!

Plug in & Play

Alvarez electronics even allow you to plug in and play if you want to, offering a contrasting, amplified tone. You can then use onboard EQ to dial in your preferred sound using the bass, middle, treble and volume controls! Not to mention the built-in tuner; there’s no excuse for being out of tune again!

About the manufacturer

Alvarez

Alvarez is a well-established brand with roots in the United States, known for producing high-quality acoustic instruments with a strong emphasis on craftsmanship and tone. While they are most famous for their acoustic guitars, their ukuleles follow the same design philosophy, focusing on resonance, playability, and attention to detail. Production is typically based in Asia, with strict quality control that has helped build their reputation across multiple instrument ranges.

Alvarez ukuleles are often a step above entry-level, offering improved materials such as solid tops and carefully selected tonewoods. This results in a warmer, more balanced sound with greater depth and sustain. They are particularly well suited to players who are progressing beyond beginner level and want an instrument that feels more refined. Alvarez is worth checking out if you’re looking for a dependable upgrade with a focus on tone and build quality rather than gimmicks.
